Musical Selections

So we have settled upon our first and last dances. The first dance will be "Besame Mucho," a rumba, and the last dance will be "Come Away with Me," of Norah Jones fame, a waltz. How could we resist? It's such a romantic, beautiful, appropriate song.

But what about all the music in between? We want people to have fun, and to dance if so inclined. Eventually, I will have to submit the reception plan to the DJ. So this is your chance, especially if you would like non-ballroom-type music... any requests?

i don't even know if i remember how to dance with a partner! however, some musical selections that may be good for a little swing dancing are:

1. woodchopper's ball
2. jump, jive, and wail by brian setzer

and, what about "the blue danube" for a little waltz?

if you've ever seen the movie strictly ballroom, there is a great selection of music there including "perhaps, perhaps, perhaps" by doris day. that scene is one of my favorites in the movie.

okay, now you've done it. fun songs keep popping into my head, such as:

1. "dancing queen" by abba
2. "celebration" by cool and the gang

i could go on, but i won't. :-)

btw, you have to see this video of the best wedding dance ever at:

Oooo, yeah, we should see strictly ballroom. I can't remember if I've seen it or not. The "perhaps" song is awesome. The lyrics are not really appropriate for a wedding first dance, or we might have gone with that one.

That wedding dance is hilarious. I don't think ours will come close. ;)
Thanks for the suggestions!
